Wits University Online Registration 2026

For the 2026 academic year, Wits University has announced structured registration timelines that every incoming and returning student must follow. Most students will register online through the Wits Student Self-Service Portal — but there are on-campus options if you need help or have special requirements.

Wits University Online Registration (Main Method)

  • Opening: 2 January 2026

  • Closing: 2 February 2026
Both new and returning undergraduate and postgraduate students are expected to complete their registration via the online portal within this period.

You must complete the online registration before the deadline — simply accepting an offer is not enough to hold your place. If you don’t register in time, your offer may be withdrawn and given to another applicant.

Assisted Registration (On Campus)

For those who need in-person support — such as curriculum counselling or help with the online system — Wits provides on-site assisted registration sessions on specific days (e.g., mid-January at Sturrock Park, Braamfontein Campus West). Wits University

Different faculties have dedicated assisted registration dates, so check your offer letter and faculty notices for exact times. Wits University

Offer Acceptance and Registration Rules

When you receive a firm offer via SMS and email:

  1. Accept the offer through your self-service portal immediately.

  2. Complete registration online before the deadline.

  3. Pay the required first fee payment (guidelines differ for local and international students).
Failure to do all three steps will result in your place being forfeited. Wits University+1

Fees and Payments

  • South African students must make an initial payment as part of the registration conditions.

  • International students need to pay at least 75% of their annual tuition fees before being cleared to register.

  • Fees for the year must be settled fully by 30 June 2026.

  • If you’re unable to pay immediately, Wits offers First Fee Payment Postponement and financial assistance options — but these must be arranged before or during registration.

Orientation & Teaching

After registration closes:

  • Welcome Day is usually mid-January,

  • Orientation and postgraduate induction follow shortly,

  • Teaching begins early February.

These sessions are critical — they help you settle into academic life and understand your course requirements.
